| The laboratory consists of
a fiber optics lab and an
environmental lab. The two
labs are kept
environmentally separate to
ensure a clean and
temperature stable
environment for the optical
test instrumentation. For
long term monitoring the
two labs are connected with
fiber optic cables that allow
monitoring of test samples
without having to remove
the test instruments from the
clean and air-conditioned
fiber optic lab. Modular instruments and optical power meters
that can
be plugged into mainframes of various sizes enables
us to
quickly change and reconfigure test setups depending
on
customer demand and application.
Using the modular optical power
meter solution enables more than
60 optical power signals to be
measured simultaneously.
Environmental equipment allows
us to subject optical components to
temperature conditions ranging from
-70°C to +180°C and humidity
conditions from 10%RH to 98%RH.
For demanding temperature profiles
the temperature ramp rate can be
>5°C/min.Environmental chambers are
software and PC controlled, which
allows quick reconfiguration and the
user friendly programming of new
temperature / humidity profiles. The
same software applications control
the data acquisition and charting of
test results for real-time monitoring
of optical performance.
Fiber flex, side-pull, twist, and cable
retention testing is performed on a precision stepper motor
driven test setup. Cable flex stress testing can be
performed up to thousands of cycles with in-situ optical performance monitoring.
Force and Pull Testing is performed on a fully
automated setup that controls the descent rate
and logs the force curve on the PC - NO old
style strip charts (up to 5000lbs capacity).
Vibration Testing can be performed to sine
and random vibration profiles. Vibration tests
can also be run at temperature
conditions ranging
from -65C to >200C
Components can be spliced into the test setup to avoid an unwanted performance impact from optical connectors. We are experienced in splicing SM and MM fiber types of various fiber core sizes.
ESD testing services are in
conformance with Telcordia (formerly
Bellcore) TR-NWT-000870 and
JEDEC JESD22-A114-B or to
customers specified requirements.
Discharge simulations using the
human body model can be
performed up to 25kV on direct
contact discharge.
Fiber Optic Inspection and
Cleaning equipment is a must in every
laboratory working with fragile and
sensitive fiber optic interfaces.
Experior Photonics uses both
stationary and portable inspection
scopes that feature removable tips and
adapters to accommodate all standard
fiber optic connector interfaces.
Calibration services cover all fiber optic
instruments including
- Optical Power Meters
- Optical Spectrum Analyzers
- OTDRs
- Light sources (LED, LASER)
- Return Loss Meters, etc.
- etc.....visit the calibration page for a full list
All calibration is traceable to the NIST (National
Institute of Standards and
Technology)
